Professional Deaf Relay Services

At Prestige Network, we understand the unique and complex communication needs of the d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

About Our Service

Also labelled as Intralingual interpreters, Deaf Relay interpreters help support d/Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing clients who have complex/minimal BSL language skills resulting from a lack of BSL education, existing mental health condition or additional learning disability, or who do not use BSL as their primary form of communication, but another sign language entirely.

Our Deaf Relay Services provide two interpreters for this language support. The first is a Deaf Relay/Intralingual interpreter who acts as an intermediary between the d/Deaf client who meets the above criteria and the hearing client. We also provide a hearing BSL interpreter to translate the Relay/Intralingual interpreter’s signing into English.

Our Deaf Relay Services are designed to ensure seamless and effective communication for individuals who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, or other sign language users. In benefiting from this specialist communication service provided by our language professionals, we facilitate clear and accurate Deaf communication in various settings.

Very professional service. The turn-around time for the initial cost was fantastic and came in lower than initial quotes received from other companies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Deaf Relay Services, also known as Intralingual interpreting, support d/Deaf or hard-of-hearing clients with complex or minimal British Sign Language (BSL) skills. These services are essential for individuals who may lack BSL education, have additional learning disabilities or mental health conditions, or use a different sign language as their primary form of communication. The service ensures effective communication between d/Deaf clients and hearing individuals in various settings such as educational institutions, healthcare appointments, and legal consultations.

Our Deaf Relay Service employs two interpreters to facilitate communication. The first is a Deaf Relay/Intralingual interpreter who acts as an intermediary, interpreting the d/Deaf client’s communication into a form that can be understood by a hearing BSL interpreter. The hearing BSL interpreter then translates this into spoken or written English for the hearing client. This process ensures clear and accurate communication tailored to the specific needs of the d/Deaf individual.

Prestige Network offers experienced and highly qualified Deaf Relay/Intralingual interpreters registered with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with the d/Deaf and the Deafblind (NRCPD). We provide comprehensive support from initial consultation to ongoing assistance, ensuring confidential and secure communication. Our services are available nationwide across the UK and are customised to meet your specific needs, providing personalised and effective communication solutions in various environments, including educational, medical, legal, and workplace settings.
