In late 2021, Prestige Network received an unusual request to source BSL interpreters who could provide support for Amy Murray, a Deaf actor who was taking on a groundbreaking role in the Netflix prequel, “The Witcher: Blood Origin”.
The unique demands created by the filming schedule required flexibility on the part of the BSL interpreter and due to COVID-19 there was the added complexity of having to comply with strict health protocols. This necessitated interpreters to be tested regularly and be available at unconventional hours.
Although this was not a typical BSL interpreting request, by calling on our team of interpreters, Prestige Network were able to provide two BSL interpreters who could be on-set daily for eight months. Their role being to facilitate seamless communication between Amy Murray and the production crew.
Whilst the BSL Interpreter’s role was primarily to support Amy Murray by creating an inclusive environment that ensured she could deliver her best performance, it was encouraging to see that the crew also took an interest in learning Sign Language. The result being a positive experience for all concerned
